WHAT is the University of Scouting?The University of Scouting is a single-day supplemental training program designed for Scouting Youth and Adult Volunteers. It is an open forum for Best Practicies, Skill Development, and BSA Program relevant material. We run the following programs: Scouts BSA Adult College - A curriculum developed specifically for Scouts BSA Leaders and Volunteers. Scoutmasters, Assistants, SBSA Committee Members, and other Volunteers will gain valuable knowledge on building their Scouts BSA Troops and enabling their youth leadership. Cub Scout Adult College - Learn from seasoned Cub Scout leaders through several course offerings on how to recruit for your pack, dealing with difficult situations, building your volunteer core, and more. Adult General Studies - Want to learn about the latest outdoor gear? Pick up some new cooking recipies? Check out a hiking challenge? We have several courses available for all adults - including non-scouters. Scouts BSA Youth Program - A program for Scouts BSA Youth ages 11-17, offering several merit badges as well as courses on Outdoor Skills, High Adventure, Leadership Development and more... Cub Scout Day Camp - a professionally staffed full day of Scouting Fun for boys and girls in grades K - 5. Webelos Adventure Day - A full day of Adventure for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts in grades 4 & 5.

WHEN is University of ScoutingUniversity of Scouting will be hosted on Saturday October 7th, 2023 8:00 AM - On-site Registration & Packet Pickup 9:00 AM - Opening Ceremony & Flags 9:30 AM - 4:20 PM - Classes run all day. 4:30 AM - Closing Ceremony There will be multiple lunch periods to select from.

How Much does University of Scouting Cost?University of Scouting is $25 per attendee ($15 for Cub Scouts), and includes your entire program experience, as well as a fully catered lunch at the Campus Cafeteria and a commemorative Patch. Some Programs may have additional costs associated for materials or supplies - additional costs will be noted in the course description. It is our Council Policy that no Scout (Adult or Youth) be denied access to a Scout event because of cost. If the program fee is a hardship, we have scholarships available. How does Lunch work?All University of Scouting Attendees will need to select from one of two Lunch Periods. All attendees will be issued a voucher upon check-in for Lunch, which is your ticket into the Dining Hall. The Cranston Marche Dining Hall offers several food options, including: "Made to Order" Chef Specials A pizza and pasta bar Fresh Sandwiches, Salads, and Soups Ice Cream, and More! All food in the Dining Hall is marked for allergens, and most allergies can be accommodated with their standing menu.

What should I bring?To make the most of your day at the University of Scouting, please bring: Pen & Paper Water Bottle Questions A desire to learn A desire to meet fellow Scouters An open mind Scout Spirit If you are a Scout taking Merit Badges with Prerequisites, please be sure to bring all associated Prerequisites!

What should I wear?As we gather together as a Scouting Community - All Scouts, Scouters, and Volunteers should wear their full Field Uniform (Class A) if possible. If you are attending any outdoor adventures or courses, please also be sure to bring the appropriate gear - boots, water bottle, umbrella, rain gear, sun screen, bug spray etc. This is a good time to review your Scouting 10 Essentials!

What is the Midway?We will have variety of Scouting Program Contributors along with vendors and companies that provide services or program opportunities to Scouting units on site. Some examples of our Midway Participants include: Representatives from Scouting Organizations like: Venturing Crews Sea Scouts Order of the Arrow Outdoor Gear Outfitters - Gear resellers Rafting Companies Leave No Trace & Outdoor Ethics Mobile Scout Shop Waterkeepers and many more...

What is Kids Club Cub Camp?Kids Club Cub Camp is an all-day Adventure Program for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade.
